Medjugorje comes to Chicago

Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez is one of the six Visionaries from Medjugorje, who in June 1981 began seeing Our Blessed Mother every day. On May 7, 1985, she received the last of ten secrets. Our Lady now appears to Ivanka every year on the anniversary of the first apparition, June 25. Ivanka’s mission from Our Blessed Mother is to pray for families.

Michael O’Brien was an award winning Rock ‘n Roll recording artist and a “non-practicing Catholic” when he went to Medjugorje. He was startled by a message from Our Lady to use his talents to bring people back to the faith - a mission he could not comprehend, but which his heart could not shake. In response, he recorded, “Sounds of Medjugorje” in 1990. It was an immediate hit and plays worldwide. Now, he tours 40 cities a year offering music and testimony in his “One Man Catholic Show.”

Father Mike Lightner was an outstanding football athlete at University of Eastern Michigan and ideal candidate for the NFL’s next offensive lineman. Then he traveled to Medjugorje. He had an incredible confession followed by conversion there and witnessed God’s Divine Mercy and Healing Power. He abandoned his hopes for the NFL and surrendered his life to play on God’s team.

Rev. Joseph Grbes, OFM was born in Rama, Bosnia-Herzegovina and joined the Franciscan Order in 1986 in Humac. After coming to the U.S., he was ordained in 1993, and received a Master’s Degree in theology at St. John’s University in New York. He is now Pastor of St. Jerome Croatian Parish in Chicago. His homilies deliver a message straight to the heart imparting to each person a desire to be holy. He’s also an accomplished counselor and he is an advocate of frequent confession to put the soul at peace.

Msgr. Francis Friedl has been ministering at Loras College in Dubuqe, IA. Known for his humor and wisdom, Msgr. Friedl has been traveling to and speaking about Medjugorje for years. He is the author of many books including To Make a Long Story Short. His life is a witness to the saving power of God and the love of the Blessed Mother.

Father Charlie Becker is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago. In 1986, three years after his ordination he was invited to go to Medjugorje. Upon his return, he was introduced to the prayer group format of the Marian Movement of Priests based on Our Lady’s messages to Father Stefano Gobbi of Milan, Italy.

Char Vance was a non-Catholic in the broadcasting business. She had an accident in Louisiana that crushed her leg, almost to the point of amputation. Joining her friend on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, she was miraculously healed. Enjoy Char’s gift of humor as she describes her pilgrimage home to the Catholic Church.

Guy Murphy is a chemical engineer who challenged Our Lady of Medjugorje in 1989 and discovered the true weapon. Enjoy the humorous story of how he searched for The Tree of Life. Today through pilgrimages and conferences, Guy helps others on that same journey to Jesus’ Sacred Heart through the help of Mary.

Barbara Kleaveland - Divine Mercy converted this mother who chose abortion and empowered her to embrace the sanctity of life. Through her testimony pro-choicers have chosen life. When she sings her closing song to her babies, there won’t be a dry eye.

Colleen Willard is one of the most stunning stories of miraculous healing at Medjugorje This Chicago native was dramatically healed of an inoperable brain tumor along with multiple other illnesses after visionary Vicka prayed over her on September 3, 2003. She was unable to walk without canes or a wheelchair, could barely talk, or hold her head up, now is dancing for joy and praising God.

Dr. Peter Geittmann is a physician and former agnostic who experienced mysterious signs. His wife coaxed him into going with her on a pilgrimage to Italy and to Medjugorje. Through prayers of family and friends, with the grace of God, Peter humorously and zealously continued his journey into the Catholic Church.
